INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP IN
DANCE/MOVEMENT THERAPY

This workshop is intended for individuals who would
like an introduction to the basic concepts of dance/movement therapy.
Students, dancers, therapists, and those interested in the transformative
elements of creative movement experience are welcome. No prior movement
experience is necessary. This course meets the qualifications for
7 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required
by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Provider #3888).
Course Description:
This day long workshop will introduce participants to dance/movement
therapy as a creative arts therapy modality. The history of the field
will be discussed along with the major tenets of mind/body integration,
nonverbal communication and emotional expressive movement. The process
of finding personal meaning in thoughtful embodied experience will be
explored through movement experientials, lecture presentations and educational
films.

Course Goals:

therapy concepts. |

how emotional experiences impact body functioning. |

(A $75.00 deposit must be received to hold your

Refund Policy :
A course fee deposit is due at the time an application
is submitted.
The deposit holds your place in the course. Deposits not used for a given course
may be applied to other courses, but are not refunded for lack of attendance.
If a course is cancelled, your deposit will be returned. CMER reserves the right
to cancel classes due to insufficient registration. Final decisions regarding
the status of each class are usually made two weeks before the scheduled start

About the instructors:
Pamela Fairweather, ADTR, NCC
is a member of the Academy of Dance Therapists
Registered, a National Certified Counselor, and the C.M.E.R.
Director of Dance/Movement Therapy. Pamela was a core faculty
member in the UCLA Graduate Dance/Movement Therapy Program and
she held faculty positions in the CSULB Dance and Educational
Psychology Departments while teaching nonverbal communication
and theories of mind/body integration. She has been an invited
guest lecturer and presenter for colleges, conferences and institutes
and has worked clinically with children, adolescents, adults
and seniors.
Her professional service involved membership
on the Board of Directors of the American Dance Therapy Association,
as the Chair of Education, Research and Practice, and membership
on the Editorial Board of the Arts in Psychotherapy Journal. Her
publications can be found in the American Journal of Dance Therapy
and the Arts in Psychotherapy Journal. |

Berti Klein, MA, MCAT,
MSS, ADTR, NCC
Berti Klein has spent over 35 years studying
and facilitating many aspects of dance, movement, dance/movement
therapy, counseling, bodywork, meditation, and the body-mind-emotion-spirit
relationship. She holds five Masters degrees and will receive
a Doctorate in Spiritual Science in June, 2009. Additionally,
she has a background in Nurturing Touch having studied CranioSacral,
Polarity, Oriental Medicine, Shiatsu, and Chi Gong.
Ms. Klein has facilitated dance/movement therapy
in many types of health and healing centers, businesses, and other
organizations, with children, adults and geriatric populations.
She also has worked in elementary schools with children, teachers,
staff and parents. Berti has supervised many students in various
fields and currently consults and has a private practice in Santa
Monica, California including working with terminally ill clients
and their caretakers.
Her teaching career has included courses at
Yale University, University of Santa Monica, Hahnemann Medical
University and the National University of Mexico while having presented
workshops, trainings, classes and seminars throughout the United
States, Europe and Latin America. |
