Tuition / Course Fees

CMER reviews and accepts course applications throughout the year. Once a course is full, a waiting list is created. Note, late fees apply one month/4 weeks before the first class meeting and CMER accepts late registration if the class is not full with a $100.00 late charge.

Tuition is determined by Course Hours. A 50% course fee deposit is due at the time an application is submitted. The deposit holds your place in the course. Deposits not used for a given course may be applied to other courses. If a course is cancelled, your deposit will be returned.

Final payment is due two weeks before the course begins unless you have made special arrangements with CMER. Once you have paid the fee in full, you will receive copies of the syllabus and reading materials to help you prepare for the course. Selected texts will also need to be purchased to be used for interim assignments, papers and reading assignments.

Refund Policy: The deposit holds your place in the course. Deposits not used for a given course may be applied to other courses, but are not refunded for lack of attendance. If a course is cancelled, your deposit will be returned.

CMER reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration. Final decisions regarding the status of each class are usually made two weeks before the scheduled start date. Before making flight arrangements, please contact CMER to be sure enough people have registered for the course.

There is a $100.00 late fee if you DO NOT enroll
four weeks before each course starts.

Information on Alternate Route Training In Dance/Movement Therapy (D/MT)

In California, there are no university programs offering degrees in Dance/Movement Therapy. The American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) created alternate route training for clinicians and students who want to become registered Dance/Movement Therapists (DTRs).

Training in Dance/Movement Therapy takes place on the graduate level. To become registered as a Dance/Movement Therapist, via alternate route training, specific D/MT course content areas are required along with a Master’s Degree in a related field. (If you wish to apply for the National Counseling Exam and become a National Certified Counselor as well as a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist, you will need a Master’s Degree in a mental health profession. If you plan to practice in the State of California, it is recommended you complete your MA Degree in a program that leads towards a psychotherapy license.)

Click here for current DTR level registry requirements or visit the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) website at www.adta.org for further information.

CMER Alternate Route Courses

The CMER Alternate Route D/MT Training offers coursework that can be applied to ADTA DTR level registry and the coursework adheres to the American Dance Therapy Association Guidelines for ADTR's Teaching Alternate Route Training Courses. All classes are supplemented by structured interim assignments. (Note: coursework does NOT include the clinical fieldwork and internship component).

CMER courses serve various populations, e.g. licensed Marriage Family Therapists, LCSW, practicing mental health clinicians, educators, dancers, students with a B.A. and artists from other disciplines. CMER is a Continuing Education Provider approved by the Behavioral Board of Science for MFT and LCSW licensure requirements. #3388. Check specific courses which qualify for CE.

CMER advises taking courses in sequential order, but selected courses can be taken as single classes.

Students wanting to complete the entire Alternate Route Training should review the ADTA guidelines carefully (www.adta.org).
